My story at TMT John 3:16 Camp in a little village somewhere in Kenya On a day of prayer I asked God to send me to a place where I could serve during my vacation time. A few months later I met Martin NDolo in my church who invited us to come to Kenya and participate at TMT John 3:16 Camp. I understood the invitation as Gods answer to my prayer. So I went to Kenya. The journey started in Frankfurt, Germany from where we flew to Mombasa, Kenya on a day in August 2017. In other words we started in a cold winter and landed in a tropical, hot and sandy place where my brother Martin heartily welomed us. When we drove from the airport in Mombasa to the mission station in Maphanga it was the first time seeing the unorganized traffic (compared to Germany) which somehow ran smoothly. I had several shocking moments seeing the poverty of the people… Then we arrived at the mission station where I met my brothers and sisters in Christ who said „Karibu“ to welcome me. The place where we lived is somewhere in the middle of nowhere, or let’s say in the bush. It was astonishing to experience how people are able to survive without running water, partially with a bit of solar energy, either simple or no toilet at all. The next day was the kicoff of an U14 soccer camp on the compound of TMT. More than a hundred young boys participated in the camp. The TMT members and I did some training sessions with the boys who played a lot of soccer games in the tournament. We, the counselors, had the chance to serve as a referee, cook, coach, commentator, etc.. We could also spread the Good News in personal conversations, sharing our testimonies and taking part/leading in group discussions. Our goal was to share Gods love in and through all things we do. During the camp we could see how the shy boys opened up slowy. So we could get connected very well. I enjoyed the blessed time together: I could have deep talk with the boys and prayed with them. In the second week a youth camp started at TMT where christians, muslims and non-believers participated. It was great to see the wisdom how all the young people with different faith backgrounds were tought by Martin and the TMT team. The Goods News was explained step by step so that the youth could follow well. I was so glad that I could see how God worked on the heart of the young people. The testimonies of the people there who often grow up in very difficult circumstances and sleep on the streets without knowing what to eat were very shocking…at the same time it was extremly encouraging to see how these people put their trust in Christ and follow him. All families in the village which we visisted showed their hospitality by giving us fruits or anything else to eat even if they were facing hunger. I learned a lot about people, myself, life and God during my time there. It really was a discipleship school for me. The journey to TMT John 3:16 Camp in Kenya was more than inspiring …it was a time to grow in Christ. So I went to TMT another two times and brought a few friends with me… You should also go there and see the work God is doing in that place. You will not come back unchanged
