JOHN 3:16 For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish but have everlasting life.
ABOUT

A little bit more

The Main Thing Ministry is a Christian mission project working under the auspices of DIGUNA Mission. It is based in the Coastal Region of Kenya specifically in Kwale County. Our mandate is to share God’s unconditional love with all humanity especially the people living in this region: A bigger percentage in this area belongs to the Muslim faith followed by the traditionalists and a few Christians. Many of the young people are involved in drugs and are easy prey to the lure of terrorist organizations.

Testimonials

Deep in the bush, civilization miles away, no tap water, pit latrines, not to mention pesky mosquitoes, these are things that come to mind when you think of the old great missionary pioneers who dared everything to spread the message of reconciliation between God and us, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
A friend of mine who decided to follow a similar path as the pioneers of old and he gave me a chance to participate in his calling from God.
A few years ago, a colleague of mine and I had the opportunity to visit Kenya and teach a group of young and energetic men how sports can be a powerful tool when it comes to spreading the Gospel, especially using sports camps.
One of the participants, Martin Ndolo, told us that he was sure God was calling him to go to a remote and rural area of Kenya, to a people who are not only poor and abandoned by their government, but also enslaved by superstitious beliefs and living in an Islamic area where Christianity and the spread of the Gospel of Christ are frowned upon.
He had always been looking for a way to connect with the churches over there, and now he had finally found the best tool to help his cause, the sports camps!
Three years later I got an invitation from him, he wanted me to go over there and help him run two camps where there would be over 150 kids and teens.
To my surprise and joy, another colleague who cannot speak Swahili or English (without them, communication with the locals is practically impossible) decided to come with me, and we were exceedingly surprised at how God used him despite the massive language barrier.
Twice a day we had the opportunity to talk about Jesus and share the message of His Gospel. Most of the campers had never heard of the things we were talking about, and we could see them soaking in every word they heard, as if they were afraid, they would never hear these things again. Many of the campers decided to give their lives to Jesus, and they decided to follow Christ.
This was a learning experience for me as well. I had to get my priorities straight again. Many have not heard the gospel and opportunities to bring the gospel to them abound.
For me, sports are one of the tools I have when it comes to spreading the gospel, and the world of sports is where I need to go to find the lost, those with whom God wants to be reconciled, whether they are great or small, rich or poor, esteemed or abandoned, whether they are talented or not, I just need to go!
Luke 19:10 And the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which is lost.
May I offer a challenge and ask you what opportunities God has given you to share His message? Are there people God has blessed you with to help you fulfill your calling from Him? Will you go as well?
I will always be grateful to my friend, through him I have been able to continue to follow my calling from God through something I love very much sports.
Matt. 28:18-20: Jesus approached them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go to all nations and make disciples of men, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And be sure, I am with you every day until the end of the world.

When I was first told about TMT by Martin, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had no idea of how simply beautiful the place is. I had no idea of how much I was going to experience God in that place.
I consider myself to be a lifetime partner of TMT. A staff member who isn’t on site. I fell in love with the place the first time I went there and have been falling in love with it more every time I go there. I love the environment, the lack of water, the mosquitoes, the dust, the lack of electricity, the passion for God amongst the TMT staff, the community in that area, the young kids in that area and a whole lot more. It makes me appreciate the little I have in town, things that I would normally take for granted. It makes me appreciate the staff there for taking up this calling to reach out to this community in such an area under such conditions. I love all these things and we all know when you love something you desire it to grow for the better. I would want all of these things to grow and change so that we can continue to give God all the glory for what He will do. Already He is doing so much, and we trust His faithfulness to continue.
I have taken part of every single youth camp since its inception. I have been doing youth camps for many years so when martin asked me to come set up a camp structure and culture, I thought it is just another camp and move on after that. Little did I know it was a place I would get stuck in for the foreseeable future. The potential for growth in this area is tremendous. Growth spiritually, economically and socially. There is a huge need here, and I made a commitment to play my part in helping this ministry because it helps me more.

I urge you, join me in partnering with this ministry in whatever way you can. It is worth it. Totally

My story at TMT John 3:16 Camp in a little village somewhere in Kenya On a day of prayer I asked God to send me to a place where I could serve during my vacation time. A few months later I met Martin NDolo in my church who invited us to come to Kenya and participate at TMT John 3:16 Camp. I understood the invitation as Gods answer to my prayer. So I went to Kenya. The journey started in Frankfurt, Germany from where we flew to Mombasa, Kenya on a day in August 2017. In other words we started in a cold winter and landed in a tropical, hot and sandy place where my brother Martin heartily welomed us. When we drove from the airport in Mombasa to the mission station in Maphanga it was the first time seeing the unorganized traffic (compared to Germany) which somehow ran smoothly. I had several shocking moments seeing the poverty of the people… Then we arrived at the mission station where I met my brothers and sisters in Christ who said „Karibu“ to welcome me. The place where we lived is somewhere in the middle of nowhere, or let’s say in the bush. It was astonishing to experience how people are able to survive without running water, partially with a bit of solar energy, either simple or no toilet at all. The next day was the kicoff of an U14 soccer camp on the compound of TMT. More than a hundred young boys participated in the camp. The TMT members and I did some training sessions with the boys who played a lot of soccer games in the tournament. We, the counselors, had the chance to serve as a referee, cook, coach, commentator, etc.. We could also spread the Good News in personal conversations, sharing our testimonies and taking part/leading in group discussions. Our goal was to share Gods love in and through all things we do. During the camp we could see how the shy boys opened up slowy. So we could get connected very well. I enjoyed the blessed time together: I could have deep talk with the boys and prayed with them. In the second week a youth camp started at TMT where christians, muslims and non-believers participated. It was great to see the wisdom how all the young people with different faith backgrounds were tought by Martin and the TMT team. The Goods News was explained step by step so that the youth could follow well. I was so glad that I could see how God worked on the heart of the young people. The testimonies of the people there who often grow up in very difficult circumstances and sleep on the streets without knowing what to eat were very shocking…at the same time it was extremly encouraging to see how these people put their trust in Christ and follow him. All families in the village which we visisted showed their hospitality by giving us fruits or anything else to eat even if they were facing hunger. I learned a lot about people, myself, life and God during my time there. It really was a discipleship school for me. The journey to TMT John 3:16 Camp in Kenya was more than inspiring …it was a time to grow in Christ. So I went to TMT another two times and brought a few friends with me… You should also go there and see the work God is doing in that place. You will not come back unchanged
