The Main Thing Ministry is a Christian ministry located in Kenya’s coastal region, specifically in Kwale County. Our mission is to share God’s love with the people in this region and beyond. The area is home to a predominantly Muslim community, followed by traditionalists and a small number of Christians. Many young people here face challenges such as drug abuse and the risk of being influenced by extremist groups.
Our desire is to bring hope and transformation by sharing the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ. We focus on: 1. Raising awareness among young people about the dangers of drug abuse. 2. Organizing soccer camps and tournaments that build character and faith. 3. Supporting students in secondary and higher education. 4. Building personal relationships that reflect the love and compassion of Christ. Through every program, we aim to see lives changed, hope restored, and communities drawn closer to God.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN The idea to found The Main Thing Ministry began in 2015 when a young missionary, Martin Ndolo, visited the coastal region of Kenya as part of an evangelistic outreach. During that time, he developed a deep passion to reach the various tribes in Kwale County and beyond with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Following his first visit, Martin organized several outreaches in the area, conducting evangelistic campaigns for about a year and using sports as a creative way to engage young people. However, since he often had to travel from Nairobi to Kwale, he felt that his efforts were not as effective as they could be. He realized that to truly connect with the people and understand their culture, he needed to live among them. With faith in God’s leading, Martin took a step of obedience and established a small mission station in the community, trusting the Lord to provide for the land and every other need. On October 6, 2017, he was released by the organization he was serving with (DIGUNA) and sent by his church (Agape Fellowship) to fully do missionary work in Kwale. Since then, he has lived among the local people, building relationships, sharing the Good News, and witnessing lives transformed by God’s grace. On December 14, 2019, Martin married Verah, and together they continue to serve as a couple, reaching out to communities with the love of Christ.
We aim to reach and connect with all humanity in unevangelized areas with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and make them disciples of Jesus Christ.
We do this by
GOING, CONNECTING, SERVING, AND EQUIPPING THEM IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE ONLY TRUE LIVING GOD, using various avenues including sports camps, youth camps, schools outreach, discipleship programs among others..
We would like to:
1. See the unreached in this area and beyond believing in the only true living God and making them disciples of Jesus Christ.
2. See them become disciples of Christ who make disciples, in their own families, communities, and beyond.
3. See them become people the community can depend on, in all aspects of life.
