History

The Main Thing Ministry is a Christian mission project working under the auspices of DIGUNA Mission. It is based in the Coastal Region of Kenya specifically in Kwale County. Our mandate is to share God’s unconditional love with all humanity especially the people living in this region: A bigger percentage in this area belongs to the Muslim faith followed by the traditionalists and a few Christians. Many of the young people are involved in drugs and are easy prey to the lure of terrorist organizations.

Our main objective is to give them hope by sharing the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ. We focus on: 1. Sensitizing the youths on the dangers of abusing drugs. 2. Organizing Soccer camps and tournaments. 3. Facilitating Secondary and tertiary education. 4. Personal interaction.

How it began

The vision to start Main Thing Mistarted in 2015 after a young missionary then (Martin Ndolo) had visited the region through an evangelistic mission organized by DIGUNA Mission and from there had a burden in his heart to reach out to the different tribes in this area and beyond. After his first visit, Martin did not stop there he organized several other visits to this area doing friendship evangelism using sports as an interactive tool for roughly one year. Since he had to travel most often from Nairobi to Kwale he felt that it was not effective to reach the community, therefore, he saw the need of living together with the community and understand their culture better and be able to reach them effectively. He shared his desire and passion with the DIGUNA Mbagathi Leadership and he requested that they allow him to concentrate fully on the Kwale project. His request was granted and it was then that he trusted God for provision towards buying a piece of land in one of the community to put up a Mission campsite. God answered this prayer in early 2017, the land was purchased and the work of putting up a mission campsite began. On 6th October 2017 during the DIGUNA Mission Conference, the leadership prayed for him and released him to go serve and concentrate fully on the mission work at Kwale.Since then he has been living in the community and the ministry has been effective and growing. By God’s grace, we have seen lives being transformed. Martin got married to Verah on the 14th December 2019 and now they are serving as a couple in the community.

Mission

We strive to reach and connect with all humanity in unevangelized areas with the Gospel and make them disciples of Jesus Christ. We do this by; GOING, CONNECTING, GROWING AND SERVING, using various avenues including sports camps, youth camps, schools outreach, discipleship programs, among others.

Vision

i. The Main Thing Ministry would like to see the unreached in this area and beyond believing in the true God; God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
ii. To see them become people the community can depend on, in all aspects of life.
iii. To see them become ambassadors of Christ in their own families, community, and beyond
